Your missions

This role is the operational right hand for our CEO, CPO and CTO, steering the business to success through an OKR framework. As the key operational decision maker, you will be instrumental in co-ordinating our internal teams for the optimisation of systems and processes during periods of fast headcount growth, Series A fundraising and achieving Product-Market-Fit.

The role 

  • Line management and coordination of 5 SMEs in Ops team: Finance, People & Talent, Regulatory & Governance, General Operations. 
  • Liaise with C-suite to achieve agreement on OKR’s and manage day to day running of business, including collation of data across the business for tracking performance metrics and monitoring progress. 
  • Responsible for optimisation/implementation of systems and suppliers incl. our IT managed service provider and ensuring ongoing performance. 
  • Collaborate with C-suite & Finance to track spend across operations and adjust operational budgets, promoting organisational sustainability. 
  • Define, promote and implement policies, procedures and best practices across departments 
  • Work with Regulatory and Governance Lead to ensure Operations activities are performed in accordance with our governance systems and applicable legal requirements. 
  • Mitigate Operational risks through insurance, IP filings etc. 

Measuring success 

  • Immediately: After learning about the organisations and our short and long term goals, you are leading the implementation of our OKR and KPI framework achieving buy-in across the business. 
  • 6 months: All teams have taken ownership of OKR framework and data is tracked, informing business decisions on regular basis. The service provided by all our suppliers and IT providers is efficient and cost effective. You can demonstrate the optimisation of critical operational systems realising cost savings and efficiency savings. 
  • 12 months: Best operational practices have been implemented across all departments and are transparent, understandable and appreciated by all members of staff  
     

Requirements

Skills needed 

Non-negotiable: 

  • Experience working in a senior Operations role, within a tech start up, solving a broad scope of challenges across Finance, People, Legal and general Ops, with measurable outcomes. 
  • Intimate understanding of the challenges faced by (health tech) start ups 
  • Exceptional IT skills and familiarity with a range of different SaaS tools 
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing stakeholders and empowering teams at all levels 
  • You come with tried and tested tools, formulas and ways of working to achieve efficiencies quickly. 

 
Desirable, but we can support: 

  • Fundraising experience

Additional info 
This is a hybrid role in Leeds, or a home-based role with quarterly travel to either our London or Leeds offices. Potential additional travel required for SMT meet-ups  
 

About Little Journey 

Little Journey was founded in 2018 by Dr Chris Evans and Sophie Copley. As an anaesthetic doctor and father himself, Chris witnessed first-hand the distress experienced by children and families coming to hospital for surgery. Partnering with Sophie, an expert in human-centred product design, they created a prototype version of the Little Journey app to support children undergoing elective surgery. 
 
Since then, the business has accelerated quickly, having been adopted in more than 100 healthcare organisations worldwide. We also partner with leading organisations such as LEGO and top tier pharmaceutical companies. They provide us global access to paediatric services and clinical research, helping us reach more children. We received investment from internationally leading VC funds and are using this to scale further into other markets. Our technology is already available in 16 languages and counting! 

Our teams are grouped into Product, Technology, Delivery, Operations, Commercial and Science departments, and we are hiring talent across all these functions to help us achieve our mission.
