Manager Quality Assurance Engineer - Web and Desktop Automation using JavaScript (Vancouver)

We are seeking a seasoned Manager of Quality Assurance Engineering with over 10 years of hands-on experience in automation testing using JavaScript and a proven track record of successfully leading and managing QA teams. In this managerial role, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire quality assurance process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality web and desktop applications. Your extensive experience in test automation, team leadership, and strategic thinking will play a crucial role in maintaining and elevating our quality standards. Your deep expertise in JavaScript and strong communication skills will be crucial in maintaining our high standards.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts for web and desktop applications using JavaScript and testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Puppeteer).
  
• Collaborate with development and QA teams to understand project requirements and application functionality.
  
• Mentor and guide junior QA engineers in best practices for test automation and JavaScript coding.
  
• Create and manage automated test suites, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
  
• Analyze test results, identify defects, and communicate effectively with development teams to facilitate issue resolution.
  
• Implement and maintain continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes for automated testing.
  
• Participate in test planning, strategy development, and test case design.
  
• Perform regression testing and ensure test environments are properly configured for various scenarios.
  
• Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in test automation and apply them to our processes.
  
• Contribute to improving the overall QA process, including strategy, documentation, and tools.
  

Requirements

• It is a work from home position for candidates based in Vancouver.
  
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in automation testing of web and desktop applications using JavaScript with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  
• Proven experience in managing large QA teams, including remote and distributed remote teams.
  
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  
• Proficiency in JavaScript with a strong coding background.
  
• Expertise in web and desktop application testing, including GUI testing and browser automation.
  
• Strong knowledge of testing frameworks and tools.
  
• Experience with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and test management tools.
  
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and analytical mindset.
  
• Ability to work effectively in a team and lead by example.
  
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies is a plus.
  
• Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB) are a plus.
