The Opportunity:  

As an embedded software engineer, you know how to create and maintain crucial pieces of software. You use your knowledge to write and optimize code that creates a bridge between pieces of software, allowing them to communicate. We’re looking for an experienced embedded software engineer like you to develop technology for our clients’ most important mission-forward challenges.  

As a senior embedded software engineer at Booz Allen, you’ll support the development of systems, sites, and tools for our clients. Using the latest tools and technology, you’ll write, test, and edit code in support of the team’s overall results. You’ll expand your skills as you develop and reverse engineer software that supports hardware functionality on a wide range of devices, as well as configure solutions based on the platform being used. You’ll work with other team leaders to troubleshoot and correct operational issues, as well as with cybersecurity specialists to ensure that the software you’re creating is secure.

You Have: 

• 5+ years of experience with Embedded Systems development
• 5+ years of experience in a high-level language such as Node.js, Go, C, C#, C++, RUST, Java, or Python
• 5+ years of experience with Internet of Things communication protocols such as REST, Web-sockets, MQTT, AMQP, or COAP
• 5+ years of experience designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing software programming applications using agile methods  
• Experience creating solutions to complex problems in a collaborative team environment 
• Knowledge of embedded systems, network topologies, transport protocols, stream processing, and cloud computing
• Ability to obtain a security clearance 
• Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of experience in embedded engineering in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have: 

• Experience in Human Performance Domain
• Experience with Unity Development with a focus on real world sensor data ingestion and Unity environment representation
• Knowledge of Bluetooth, including various programming language D-BUS APIs
• Knowledge of Event Driven Architecture
• Knowledge of IoT Sensors or Micro-processor firmware development
• Knowledge of IoT Data Pipelines
• Knowledge of Analytics and Remote Monitoring
• Knowledge of Embedded Linux, and Real-Time Operating Systems

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
