XXX aims to move people’s life forward by offering various SaaS applications for Back-office operations and eliminating unessential labor from complex daily tasks, and radically changing the quality of and time spent on work.

In the HR domain, we are providing the following six products;

Cloud Payroll
Cloud My Number
Cloud Attendance
Cloud Social Insurance
Cloud HR Database
Cloud Tax Adjustment
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing and leading one or some of the engineering teams within the HR Solutions Department. You will be responsible for a team size of 10 to 50+ depending on your experience and performance.

You will be reporting to the Department Head and CTO/VPoE. You will collaborate with other EMs and VPoEs to grow engineering teams and contribute to the business results of the department.

Also, you are expected to collaborate with leaders and PdMs in the department, identify and solve problems, and enhance the sustainability and growth of the products and organizations.

As XXX plans to change the communication language in its engineering organization to English by the end of 2024 to maximize its engineering capability, we are looking for engineering managers who are highly motivated to lead diverse teams and cross-border teams.


Responsibility
Manage diverse, cross-functional, and cross-border engineering organizations.
Make cross-sectional decisions (resource allocation, hiring plan, etc.), to ensure the product roadmap of multiple products in the HR Solution domain will be achieved on time and within budget.
Create and update mid- to long-term roadmaps in cross-functional areas such as Development, QA, SRE, and architecture.
Identify issues and implement measures, collaborating with other teams and departments.
Continuously improve the productivity of the engineering organization and contribute to business growth in the HR Solution domain.
Create succession plans for engineering organizations and execute them through recruitment, training, and evaluations.
Ensure that engineers and non-engineers in the whole HR Solution domain have a mutual understanding of each other and are moving in the same direction.
Improve employee engagement and developer experience to promote employee retention and referrals.
Continuously optimize engineering processes and practices to promote the globalization of the development team.


Qualifications
Experience in leading and managing an engineering team of 5-20 ppl
5+ years of web application development experience
Experience in managing global team members
System development experience in a cross-border engineering team



Nice-to-have
Experience in engineering management (including hiring, evaluation, and training) in a development organization of several dozen people
Experience in Ruby on Rails
Experience in cloud infrastructure design, development, and operation
Experience in microservice design, development, and operation
Experience in speaking at conferences
Experience in Scrum and Agile development
Experience in managing global team members




Language Requirement
English: Fluent in both written and verbal
Japanese: Not required (Interests in learning is a plus)



Salary Range
Min 9,000,000 - Max 20,000,000 Japanese yen / year (Gross)



Location, Remote Work
Location: Tokyo or Kyoto, Japan
Remote work is available four days per week.



Working hours
Flexible Working Hours (No core time)


Vacations
Two days off per week (Saturday and Sunday)
Japanese national holidays (16 national holidays in 2023)
Paid holiday: 10 days (first year) *Number of paid holidays increases (+1 day) every year up to 20 days a year.
Summer vacation days: 3 days
Winter vacations days: 2 days
