Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to develop, maintain and distribute required and requested financial reporting systems and internal controls for senior management, oversee various monthly accounting processes and closing work and oversee the preparation of external financial statements and SEC filings and develop the company's position concerning internal control and technical accounting issues. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid’s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of various Security and Exchange Commission filings to ensure the filings are timely
and accurate, complete review procedures for refinancing documents and SEC filings as appropriate.

Coordinate and review the accounting procedures for multiple areas, including debt and equity, the distribution
center handling and freight charges, advertising expense, printed materials, supplies, legal and professional
fees and various other SG&A amounts.

Review and oversee the posting of XBRL results on the Company’s website.

Coordinate activities with the external auditors for quarterly and annual filings, including preparation and review
of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and press releases.

Oversee the design, development, maintenance, and distribution of financial reports in a timely manner, based
on pre-established deadlines and work schedules.

Prepare technical accounting position papers and research accounting issues from time to time to assist in
determining the related journal entries for technical accounting issues. Maintain annual CPE requirements and
attend SEC training seminars each year to stay current on reporting and technical accounting issues.

Document processes of internal control over various business cycles and provide leadership with respect to
developing, maintaining, and testing various controls in accordance with Company adopted COSO framework
of internal control.

Develop and maintain relationships with members of the IT group that support our financial reporting function.

Manage the implementation of financial reporting software (project management).

As requested perform ad hoc analysis, present and communicate requested results to senior management.

Assist with maintaining a central library of financial information.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises Accountants, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Rite Aid policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, directing, rewarding, and disciplining associates; appraising associate performance; and resolving complaints.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting required.
Master’s degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Accounting preferred.
5 years of experience in public or private industry accounting required.
5 years of experience in public accounting preferred.
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification required
The typical starting pay range for this position is between $112,300 - $144,800
annually, although wages can very based on experience and geography.
