Job Summary: The Three Wire Systems (TWS) IT Systems & Security Administrators are responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems, business systems, and web applications. Recommends the redesign and configuration of operating systems and system applications. Investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to internal and external customers. Identify and evaluate business needs for security gaps and will help to create and implement security strategies and plans. Responsible for supporting the delivery of Three Wire Systems product/service offerings related to information security and assurance including network security (AWS/Azure clouds, firewalls, VPN), security governance (security policies and procedures), security and vulnerability assessments, Information assurance, risk management, and certification and accreditation support. Security generalist familiar with infrastructure security frameworks, compliance requirements and security department planning and operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The IT Systems & Security Administrator works directly with the IT Systems Manager and others to ensure that the Information Technology and Security needs of internal and external stakeholders are being met. Specifically the IT Systems & Security Administrator:

  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the production, development and corporate computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities
  • Implements new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Trains technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
  • May guide or provide work direction to student employees.
  • Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations
  • Establishes, maintains, and manages user accounts. Installs, modifies, and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Provides server support related to other software.
  • Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, virtual machines, and other components.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
  • Follows procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse. Works with the IT Systems Manager to ensure that best practices are implemented.
  • Follows procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
  • Follows project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations.
  • Uses tools, procedures, and training sessions for Operations, Client Support and Systems Development staff to assist with work.
  • Support various AWS and Azure account cloud systems and the applications within.
  • Supports the corporate assets in the LightEdge data center including hardware, software.
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology.
  • Build, deploy, and manage various infrastructure-as-code technologies. Be part of a DevSecOps oriented team that prioritizes automation and scripting over repetitive manual tasks.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is preferred but can be substituted with other training received in a structured learning environment. (Military service, technical certificate program, etc.)
  • Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis
  • 5+ years of general IT experience
  • 1+ year of information security experience
  • 1-2 years of experience related to risk assessments, security policy implementation, general IT and security controls development, compliance readiness
  • Some Cloud hosting experience preferred
  • Ability to use a computer to read and write technical documents
  • Strong command of the English language to support fluent conversations involving complex technical issues and software deployments
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a military or civilian professional setting
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Able to meet requirements for retaining professional security certifications
  • Ability to successfully pass a client background screening
  • Ability to use a telephone/video to participate in regular conference calls with other technical representatives
  • Provide security architecture, policy and design guidance
  • Windows Server administration (2012, 2019)
  • Linux Server administration (RHEL 7,8,9)
  • AWS and/or Azure Cloud management experience. Cloud related certifications preferred.
  • Exposure to Governance, Risk and Compliance tools and platforms
  • Experience in Powershell, Unix Shell, and Python scripting preferred
  • Proficient use of Management and Monitoring tools such as VMware Virtual Center Operations and/or VMware Configuration Manager Enterprise
  • Experienced in working with and managing 3rd party providers

Travel: Up to 10%

Key Competences:

  • Knowledge of: operating systems and scripting languages; current equipment and technologies in use; Linux and Windows system administration, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, networking and firewalls support, and system performance monitoring tools; DoD Risk Management Framework and DISA STIGs; effective project management techniques; principles and practices of effective management and supervision.
  • Ability to: Plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures; communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.

Physical Demands
: works in office areas, sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. Uses personal computer, telephones, copiers, printers, and other office equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
