Role overview

Join our small and dynamic finance team in a pivotal role as an Insurance Finance Specialist. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a diverse range of finance activities, providing exposure to various aspects of financial reporting and operations for our UK Office.

Become an integral part of our growing team as an FP&A Analyst, contributing your expertise in the insurance space. This role is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with post-qualification experience to make a significant impact in FP&A functions within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monthly Management Information Analysis:
    • Utilize monthly management information for forecasting, scenario testing, and modeling.
    • Monitor performance, conduct underwriting and expense analysis, and contribute to strategic projects.
  • Tool Development and Process Enhancement: support the development of tools, particularly Anaplan, and establish standards and processes for scalability and efficiency in FP&A.
  • Cash Flow Forecasting: apply experience in cash flow forecasting, particularly in a bordereaux-driven business.
  • Variance Analysis and Improvement Opportunities:
    • Identify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year expenses.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Finance Support: provide FP&A finance support to accounting and business partner teams related to premium production, planning, reporting, and metrics.
  • Dashboard Development: build out dashboards to support the CFO and enhance financial reporting capabilities.
  • Challenge and Support Commercial Teams: provide the right challenge and support to the commercial teams for monthly forecasts and longer-term projections.
  • Process Documentation: document processes to minimize key person dependencies and enable cross-skilling within the team.
  • Business Performance Management: apply experience in business performance management disciplines, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, balanced business scorecards, and KPI reporting.
  • Financial Modeling and Analysis: demonstrate strong numeracy skills with financial modeling capability, particularly in Microsoft applications (Excel, VBA, PowerPoint).
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-qualification experience within the insurance space.
  • Strong knowledge of Insurance Products (GI/non-life) from an FP&A perspective.
  • Experience with Anaplan is a significant plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
  • Previous experience in building dashboards for CFO (FP&A perspective) is a nice-to-have.

  • Comfortable with change, uncertainty, agility, and flexibility.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in various ways and challenge and support commercial teams.
  • Detail-oriented, socially adept, and grounded.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to take responsibility.

  3. Senior executive interview with Head of FP&A & Chief Actuary
  4. Cross interview with central FP&A function (Head of FP&A & FP&A Analyst)
