Role overview

Join our small and dynamic finance team in a pivotal role as an Insurance Finance Specialist. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a diverse range of finance activities, providing exposure to various aspects of financial reporting and operations for our UK Office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Insurance P&L Management: Direct experience working within the insurance market with a good understanding of insurance Profit and Loss (P&L).
  • General Ledger and Financial Reporting: Populate the General Ledger and contribute to financial reporting, with proficiency in Sage and MS Dynamics as an advantage.
  • Technical Accounting: Prepare, post, and reconcile technical Gross and RI entries for premiums, commissions, and claims, including IBNR.
  • Data Quality Management: Liaise with business teams to address data quality issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly insurance P&L and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Financial Close Processes:
    • Contribute to various month and quarter-end close processes.
    • Support the accurate and timely monthly financial close process, aligning with the finance timetable.
  • Treasury Management: Assist the finance team in aspects of Treasury Management, including bank accounts, mandates, and transfers.
  • Claim Funds Management: Set up and maintain claim funds with insurers and clients.
  • Solvency II Reporting: Utilize experience with Solvency II reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Process Documentation and Improvement:
    • Document processes to minimize key person dependencies and facilitate cross-skilling within the team.
    • Contribute to the creation and improvement of processes.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative and operational support for the preparation of invoices.
Requirements:

Qualifications & skills:

  • Qualified ACA or equivalent.
  • Experience in insurance finance and a solid understanding of insurance P&L.
  • Proficiency in Sage and MS Dynamics (advantageous).
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Demonstrate advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Solvency II reporting.
  • Process-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable with change, uncertainty, and ambiguity.
  • Agile and flexible mindset.
  • Attention to detail and a grounded personality.
  • Strong leadership skills.

  1. Screening interview with Talent recruiter
  2. Manager interview with UK Chief Finance Officer & UK HR Manager 
  3. Senior executive interview with Chief Risk Officer & Chief Actuary
  4. Cross interview with central Accounting function (Chief Accounting & tax & Insurance Accountant) 
  5. HR interview with Head of Talent or VP People & Culture
