Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst to join our Financial Operations team at Phreesia!   

 

Reporting to our Senior Payroll Manager, in this role you will be instrumental for not only routine payroll responsibilities, but also in the Workday payroll post go-live transition for both US and Canadian payrolls. This individual will be responsible for processing the semi-monthly/bi-weekly payroll currently in Workday. This position will afford you opportunity for growth on a fast-paced and dynamic team. 

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete processing of all US and CAN payroll/pay data components: compensation, bonus, commission, equity, etc. on a semi-monthly / bi-weekly / ad hoc basis    

  • Work closely with Human Resources to develop best practices and alignment and partner with Payroll Tax Analyst to research and resolve any payroll tax related inquiries 

  • Assist with the recording of payroll journal entries in accounting after each payroll processing as well as equity transactions are recorded timely and accurately in the applicable payroll cycle (on/off-cycle) 

  • Consistent monitoring, responding and escalating, when needed, of employee communication or inquiries received directly or via the Payroll inbox and support communication related to employee visas ensuring the required taxation based on visa types is accurately processed   

  • Contribute to the tax set-up of employees in the stock compensation system to ensure correct withholdings for all equity related transactions.   

  • Ensure terminated employees are paid within the specific guidelines set forth by each state   

  • Assist with year-end W-2 / T-4 creation, distribution and reporting  

 

What You'll Bring: 

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years progressive related payroll experience preferably working for a public company; CPP preferred 

  • Experience processing employee stock compensation through third party administrator (e.g. Shareworks, E*Trade or other equity platform)   

  • Experience with non-US payroll (Canada preferred) as well as multi-state and local taxation rules and regulations for withholding and reporting   

  • Exposure to Sarbanes Oxley control testing and documentation and working Knowledge of 401K/Safe Harbor 

  • Advanced Excel Skills required and Workday experience a plus 

 

Base pay for U.S. is $70,000-80,000, depending on qualifications.  Phreesia is a fully remote company; however, candidates located in ET and CT regions are given priority in the hiring process.
