Dairy Technical Sales Specialist

The Dairy Technical Sales Specialist will be responsible for growing dairy sales and contributing to the technical and nutritional support for the dairy business in Minnesota. The individual will work to grow sales with customers and prospects through a consultative approach and education. In addition, there is an opportunity to assist in technical support of the sales teams and dealers.

This is a remote (virtual) field-based technical sales role located in Minnesota or eastern South Dakota.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grow sales to dairy producers and dealers.
  • Work closely with dairy nutrition sales professionals in providing education and solutions for producers.
  • Be a leader in dairy nutrition and education for our sales team and dealers.
  • Demonstrate strategic and tactical planning skills necessary to provide solutions-based selling of value-added technologies.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency and competency in dairy nutrition, production management, and selling skills through recommended training.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or requested.


Experience-Education-Skills:

  • BS with industry experience required. Advanced degree with industry experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of dairy cattle husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
  • Enjoys and prefers working in the field with producers, nutritionists, and feed dealer teams.
  • Daily travel within the territory- approximately 1-2 overnights/week
  • Enjoys working with people, competing as a team, and providing profitable solutions to customers, local dealers, and Purina.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills who plans for growth and opportunity.
  • Effective communication skills in various settings.
  • Computer skills; including ration balancing software, PC Dart, DC305 and MS Office applications (Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong Leadership Skills, Customer Focused, Action Oriented

Base Salary: $115,000 - $160,000 based on experience level

Bonus Potential: $40,000
