Tax Manager

The Tax Manager position is an exciting opportunity to drive and shape a new, growing tax preparation and filing service offering at Buckingham. This team member will work with Buckingham Integrated Tax Solutions team to assist in the implementation and growth of the tax preparation service for clients that is integrated with the firm’s wealth management client experience. The tax manager will file tax returns in a timely, accurately and secure manner for a wide variety of clients and collaborate closely with Buckingham’s advisory teams to assist in forward-looking planning opportunities.

Buckingham provides associates the opportunity to work a hybrid model. Teams are typically in the office 2 days per week and have the ability to work from home 3 days per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses
• Prepare extensions and assist with tax notices as needed
• Prepare quarterly tax estimates and assist with tax projections
• Perform technical research to address complex tax issues with the support of a team
• Analyze client information and work collaboratively with advisors to offer recommendations for reducing client tax liabilities
• Ensure top quality client service in collaboration with the wealth management offering
• Manage the client’s relationship and overall engagement with the tax service offering
• Communicate effectively with advisors and their clients in a timely and professional manner
• Meet all internal and external deadlines to ensure clients remain compliant with tax obligations
• Operate in a fully compliant manner to protect clients’ and the firm’s information
• Effectively solve problems and resolve issues for clients and their advisors
• Assist with training, teaching, mentoring and retention of other team members

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
• 4 + years of client facing experience
• EA, CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Excellent analytical and time management skills
• Ability to work individually and in a team atmosphere
• The willingness and ability to work additional hours, as needed, during busy season

This is a salaried position with an opportunity for an annual bonus and long-term incentives as well as a competitive benefits package.
