Your missions

About the Role

We’re looking to add an Engineering Lead to our Data Warehouse Platform group. This person will be hands-on and close to the code while also having the opportunity to grow successful direct reports, and run productive teams. The Engineering Lead oversees a small family of teams and provides technical, product, and team-level leadership to those teams.

About the Team

This Data Warehouse Infrastructure product group is responsible for making HubSpot smarter by enabling a deeper understanding of its customers. They're not a centralized reporting-only team, they're a team of engineers who partner with our business leaders to understand the nuances of the data and HubSpot systems and provide access to the data they need to manage our business intelligently. They tackle HubSpot’s most complex data challenges, manage our Data Warehouse infrastructure, and provide support to each other and to a network of business analysts throughout the company. You will get to work in a best-in-class tech stack that includes Airflow, Snowflake, dbt, and Looker.

In this role, the teams you lead will:

  • Participate in the technical execution of business intelligence and analytics-related projects of large scope and complexity
  • Build data pipelines and data ingestions in Java
  • Build and help scale out the data orchestration needs of the organization.
  • Build automated controls, processes, and monitoring to ensure data is protected at scale.
  • Make use of industry-leading 3rd party tools as well as robust home-grown infrastructure powering the HubSpot Engineering organization.
  • Build and scale a robust data infrastructure that serves the entire organization.
  • Work with columnar databases (Snowflake)

Key Expectations for Engineering Leads:

  • Engineering Leads are actively involved as a player-coach in building software and making products to solve customer problems. They are curious and involved in the technology as well as the people on their teams.
  • They have a strong technical vision for how to implement the product vision. This can include working with teams they oversee and external teams to ensure that we are solving problems the best way for internal customers.
  • They think about and implement ideas to push teams to improve technically.
  • They work effectively across Engineering leaders in infrastructure and product to cultivate a strong product vision for their teams, and are responsible for the mission, direction, and alignment.
  • They are responsible for the engineers on their team and provide mentoring, coaching, and feedback to help them grow and succeed in their role.
  • They create and foster diverse teams and an inclusive culture.

Flexibility policy @HubSpot

Remote policy

We want to build a company where people can do their best work. Some people work best in an office building, while others work best from a home office. That's why flexibility is more important than ever. We're building a flexible, hybrid company at HubSpot because as our Culture Code says, we want to make work-life harmony a reality. As a HubSpotter, you select the work option that's best for you, once per calendar year: @office, @home, or @flex.

Remote onboarding at HubSpot

Once per year, employees select the work option that's best for them: @office, @home, or @flex. Here's what they mean in more detail: - @home: You work the majority of your time from home, and while you may visit a HubSpot office 1-2 times per quarter, home is your headquarters. HubSpot supports you in making sure your work-from-home setup is safe, sound, and sets you up for success. - @office: You come into one of HubSpot's global offices 3 or more days per week. You have a dedicated desk for your laptop, monitor, plants, and anything else that makes your workspace truly yours. For that reason, employees who choose @office don't get an at-home desk set-up. - @flex: You come into a HubSpot office 2 or fewer days per week. When you come to the office, you’ll be allocated a “hotel desk." Because you opted-out of dedicated desk space in an office, HubSpot will help support your work-from-home set-up. Additionally, HubSpot has a 90-day temporary mobility policy that allows employees to work up to 90 days in another country, every year.
